Information Session launched in Erbil
To engage small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that are interested in contributing to improving employability and generating jobs mainly for youth and women, five information sessions will be held in Erbil, 2 in Duhok and 3 Sulaimaniyah. The first 3 information sessions held in Erbil, Duhok and Sulaimaniyah were attended by 127 companies. Highly interactive, the sessions were designed to inform businesses about the scheme, application process and requirements. The Governor of Erbil, Dr. Firsat Sofi, said:” As the government and the Governorate, we are really pleased with the rode that Rwanga Foundation and its partners have chosen to do a project where a lot of youths will be able find job opportunities. To help meet this ambition that youths should be working, we give our full support for the continuity and success of this project”. UNDP Head of Erbil Office, Ms. Isabela Uribe, said: “Supporting vulnerable communities in the Kurdistan Region is our top priority under Headway programme. The initiative is contributing to the increase of the number of jobs for these communities and helping SMEs to grow and boost the economic growth in the region. In this way, we believe resilience and self-reliance of the population in need, specifically youth and women might be built, while the private sector is involved in reducing the burden on sub-national authorities.” Director of Programs at Rwanga Foundation, Mr. Dastan Qadir, added: ‘’We hope that businesses will eagerly take part in this grant scheme, as they will contribute to generating jobs, mainly for youth and women, and growing the economy.’’ The application deadline is December 10th, 2019 for all SMEs which are meeting the requirements.
